GILLIAN BLAKES · WEBSITE INFORMATION
Privacy Policy
Updated 22 October 2026
This policy explains how personal information is handled through gibsgivestips.com, the author website presented under the name Gillian Blakes (“I”, “me”, or “this website”). For privacy questions or requests, email gibs@gibsgivestips.com.
Information you choose to share
The contact form asks for your name, email address, and message. This information is used to respond to your enquiry and keep a record of the conversation. Please do not include sensitive personal information or children’s identifying details.
The newsletter form asks for your name and email address. Signing up requests author updates, book news, and occasional creative resources. Sending a contact message does not, by itself, subscribe you to the newsletter.
Newsletter services and your choices
MailerLite provides the newsletter signup and email service. Subscriber details and subscription records are processed through that service. Depending on the email settings, delivery, opening, and link-click information may also be recorded to understand how emails perform.
You can unsubscribe through the link in a newsletter or contact me for help. A limited record of an unsubscribe request may be retained to honour your preference. Read MailerLite’s privacy policy for information about its processing.
Website technology, cookies, and tracking
Website hosting, security, and technical services may process information such as IP addresses, browser and device details, requested pages, and access times to operate and protect the site.
The current site includes Google Analytics/Google tag and Meta Pixel code. These technologies can process page visits, interactions, device or browser information, and online identifiers for analytics and advertising measurement. Meta may associate information received through its tools with information it holds about a person. The information collected depends on the service configuration and your browser and account settings.
Cookies and similar technologies may also support website functions and newsletter forms. Browser settings can limit or delete cookies, although some features may then work differently. Blocking cookies alone does not necessarily prevent every form of data transmission. This policy does not treat simply visiting the site as consent to every optional use of your information.
More information: Google Analytics data safeguards and Meta’s privacy information.
Service providers and international processing
Information may be handled by providers used for website hosting, security, email delivery, analytics, and related technical support. Google, Meta, and MailerLite have their own privacy terms. Depending on the provider, information may be processed outside your province or Canada and be subject to the laws of the place where it is processed. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse, or security issues.
Amazon orders and external links
Books are currently ordered through Amazon. Payment and delivery details entered on Amazon are handled by Amazon, not through a checkout on this website. Amazon and other linked services, including Instagram, apply their own policies. A link to another site does not mean this policy covers that site.
Children and free activities
The books and activities can be enjoyed by children, but the contact and newsletter forms are intended for adults, including parents, caregivers, educators, and librarians. Children should ask an adult to contact me on their behalf. Please do not submit a child’s name, photograph, school, or other identifying information.
The free activity PDF can be downloaded without joining the newsletter. Ordinary website technical information may still be processed when a file is requested. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, please contact me so it can be reviewed and addressed.
Retention, access, and corrections
Information is retained for the purposes described here, including responding to enquiries, maintaining requested subscriptions, honouring unsubscribe choices, and meeting applicable record-keeping requirements. It should be deleted or anonymised when no longer needed for those purposes; backup copies may remain until they are replaced through normal backup cycles.
You may ask about information held about you, request a correction or deletion, withdraw consent to optional uses, or raise a concern by email. Requests are subject to applicable law, and reasonable verification may be needed to protect your information. No website or email system can guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
Updates will be posted here with a revised date. Where a new use requires consent, updating this page alone does not replace obtaining that consent.
